IS NYEP FOR YOU?

Are you a female between 17-21 years old? 

Our program serves homeless teen girls between 17-21 years of age from the Northern Nevada area. We will consider emancipated youth 17 years of age.

Have you been removed from your home due to circumstances beyond your control? 

Our program has served teens from various systems including foster youth in foster care through social services, foster youth who have aged out of foster care, juvenile justice youth currently or previously involved with the juvenile justice system, homeless youth currently living in the family shelter, homeless youth exiting mental health institutions, unsupported and/or parentless youth who are unsafe at home and homeless youth currently enrolled in and attending school.

Are you currently attending school or ready and willing to go back? 

All residents must be willing to complete their high school education.  If not enrolled, a teen must be willing to become enrolled in an educational institution within 30 days of moving in.

Are you currently working or ready and willing to start a part time job? 

All residents must have the ability and be willing to work a part time job.

Can you safely live in our home and use program services? 

All residents must have the capacity to live in our home and safely and actively participate in the program.

Are you willing to submit to a criminal background history, an initial drug test, and future random drug testing? 

All selected applicants will be asked to provide a criminal background history and submit to an initial drug test. All residents must be willing to submit to random drug testing.

Determination of admission based on findings will be made on an individual basis. 

Are you ready to commit?

All residents must be willing to commit to staying in the program for 9-18 months and agree to not move out until all of the program goals are completed. This is done by signing a CLP (Community Living Plan) contract when you move in and staying until all of the goals in that contract are met indicating you are a self sufficient young adult.

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, and none of the following apply to you: 

NYEP cannot accept teens that are actively pregnant or show signs or have been diagnosed with active psychotic behavior, violent or assualtive behavior, and/or active substance abuse that renders the individual unsuitable to group process and interaction.
